Meet Anthony
Hi, I'm Anthony.
My best skill isn't technical. It's sitting next to someone who's sure they can't do this, and watching them realize they can.
Why I build
Access is the whole point. The tools keep getting more powerful, and a lot of people keep getting left out. Not because they can't learn, but because nobody slowed down to show them, or built for them. Everything I make starts there.
The path
This isn't a resume. It's one life that kept pointing the same way. At the YMCA I see every day who gets left behind when everything moves to a screen. Teaching gave me a way to sit beside those people and close the gap. Music showed me what it's like to make something with no label behind you. And building systems is how I hand people the tools the big players keep for themselves.
Workshops, Systems, and Art are three doors into the same room.
How I work
Use what fits. I work with local tools, paid software, and subscriptions, whatever the job calls for. The point isn't the stack. It's understanding how the tools work so you can choose for yourself, and leaving with the know-how to keep going.
Anthony Arlene is the name I use for public work. It comes from my parents' middle names.
